Jake Vandenbrink was born in Ontario, Canda. Ontario is a province with numerous
lakes and rivers, in fact, Ontario is a skanadario word, meaning "beautiful
water". On its southern border, spread the Great Lakes, where Niagara Falls thunder
between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
Since early age, Jake found great pleasure in observing and
portraying Nature. He lingered in Ontario's beautiful forests and lakes, marshes
and fields, listening to the sounds of the wild, admiring the morning and evening
sky, lost in the solitude and beauty of Nature. Later, he would record his obervation with pencil and paper.
In earlier years,
Jake worked in pencil, ink, and oils, later settled into acrylics. After many
years of experimenting, he developed his own art style, which is both realistic
and poetic, fresh and gentle in colors, subtle and charming in light, well
reflecting the solitary and serene beauty of the north country,
which nurtured his spirit and art.
"I want the viewer to be emotionally involved with the scene, and be given the
feeling of really being there." said the artist.
Jake is an active supporter of many conservation groups, and has raised
thousands of dollars towards the preservation of wildlife and environment
through his art.
Presently,
Jake is residing with his wife in southern Ontario, whose wilderness provides an
inexhaustible source of inspiration for him.
